The 4th Asialics International Conference

The 4th Asialics International Conference organized jointly by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation and the University of Malaya will be held in Kuala Lumpur, MALAYSIA, June 2007.
The aim of this international conference is to enrich and exchange insights on the relationships pertaining to interactions between innovation and society both at the national and firm levels. We hope to attract the expertise of practitioners, policy makers and academics both in and outside Asia across a wide range of disciplines. The organizing committee warmly invites you to submit papers relevant to the following sub-themes. We also welcome participation of policy makers and practitioners, who do not intend to present papers.

Important dates
- 29 February 2007: deadline for abstract submissions (on-line submissions and registrations will begin in early February 2007 through the website www.asialics.org).
- 31 March 2007: deadline for paper submissions.
- 16 April 2007: deadline for registrations.
Paper review and acceptance
Significant and original (unpublished) submissions are solicited. People submitting abstracts will be able to submit the full paper after a peer review process of the abstracts. Full papers should not exceed 8,000 words and include an abstract of 150 words. After the conference all accepted papers will be published on CD and selected papers will be published in special issues of peer-reviewed journals (Journal of Technology Innovation, International Journal of Technology and Globalization and Malaysian Journal of Science and Technology Studies).

On-line registration will be possible from the beginning of February 2007 after 4th Asialics International Conference homepage opens.
About Asialics
To achieve the aspirations of Asialics a group of Asian scholars from Thailand, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, China and Vietnam with support from the Globelics network held the 1st Asialics International Conference on ?Innovation Systems and Clusters in Asia?, Bangkok, 4-5 April 2004 (program and papers can be downloaded at www.nstda.or.th/nstc/asialics2004.html). About 150 professionals participated in the seminar and they agreed to organize the Asialics conference annually, publish a journal special issue and a book about innovation system and clusters, and explore possibilities of joint research and training. Following the first international conference in Bangkok, Asialics then organized the 2nd Asialics International Conference on ?Innovation Policy and Management in Changing Asia?, 16-19 April 2005, Jeju Island, Korea. About 120 professionals participated and 60 papers were presented at the conference (programs and papers can be downloaded at www.asialics.org). The 3rd Asialics International Conference on ?From Imitation to Innovation: Asia Meets the Global Challenge? was held in Shanghai, China from April 16-19, 2006. About 90 professionals participated and 45 papers were presented at the conference.
